HolLynn
D'Lil was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated with honors
from Texas A&M University. She was on her way home from teaching
school
when she was in an automobile accident that left her a paraplegic.
For over thirty years she has been involved in helping to shape the built environment and to address the diverse needs of people. She is a code and regulatory expert and has participated as a member on a myriad of committees and boards over her years of involvement in accessibility rights and development of accessibility regulations. During her eleven years as the Accessibility Specialist for the State of California's Department of Rehabilitation, HolLynn wrote the Access Guide-Survey Checklist, a 100-page guide for access compliance. which was a joint publication with the Department of Rehabilitation and the Division of the State Architect. She also created and presented hundreds of seminars on accessibility requirements throughout the State.
She wrote and helped produce "Hello/Goodby Ada Who?" a musical protest against the weakening of the ADA by the U.S. Supreme Court. She has worked as an accessibility consultant since 2000, and sits on advisory committees for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), The U.S. Access Board, and California Department of Housing and Community Development. In the past she has served on the California State Historical Building Safety Board, and advisory committees for the Division of the State Architect and the State Fire Marshall. She lives in Graton, California and has two adult children.
